CBSE Board Exam 2024: Special Facilities for Students with Type 1 Diabetes

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rolled out a new initiative to support students with Type 1 diabetes during the upcoming class 10 and 12 board exams in 2024. In a recent circular, the board announced various accommodations to address the challenges faced by these students.

Recognizing the unique needs of students with Type 1 diabetes, CBSE has introduced special guidelines and standard operating procedures to ensure their well-being during exams. The board aims to provide a conducive environment for these students to perform their best.

Students with Type 1 diabetes will be permitted to carry essential items in a transparent pouch, including sugar tablets, chocolates, fruits like bananas and apples, snack items, prescribed medications, and a clear water bottle. Additionally, students can bring glucometers, Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) machines, Flash Glucose Monitoring (FGM) machines, and/or insulin pumps to monitor and manage their condition effectively.

To access these facilities, students must indicate their diabetes status during registration and submit relevant medical documents on the CBSE portal.

These documents should include recommendations from medical specialists regarding the usage of monitoring devices during exams and assurance from parents regarding safety measures.

The implementation of these measures aims to alleviate the stress and challenges faced by students with Type 1 diabetes, enabling them to focus on their exams with confidence. CBSE’s proactive approach towards inclusivity and support underscores its commitment to providing equal opportunities for all students.
