Celebrating World No Tobacco Day 2024: Special Drive by Department of Public Health Dentistry
Gurugram, 22nd May 2024 – In commemoration of World No Tobacco Day 2024, the Department of Public Health Dentistry organized a significant No Tobacco Drive at Jainson Eng. Pvt. Limited, Gurugram. This fortnight-long celebration aims to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of tobacco on both oral and general health.
Dr. Surbhi Priyadarshi, a distinguished professional in Public Health Dentistry, spearheaded the initiative, leading a dedicated team in their efforts to educate and support the community. The drive featured one-on-one counseling sessions for approximately 50 individuals, focusing on those expressing a desire to quit tobacco use.
Participants were provided with valuable information on nicotine replacement therapies and other support mechanisms available through the Tobacco Cessation Centre at the University. These resources are designed to assist individuals in overcoming their tobacco dependency and improving their overall health.
Dr. Priyadarshi emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “Our goal is to create a tobacco-free environment by equipping individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to quit. The harmful effects of tobacco are well-documented, and through continuous efforts like these, we can make a significant impact on public health.”
