Department of Mental Health Nursing celebrates World No Tobacco Day

Department of Mental Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing under the aegis of Nightingale Association of Stress Management organized event on World No-Tobacco Day with the theme “Tobacco Threat to environment” on 31st May, 2022 in association with NIFCO India Private Ltd, Manesar, Gurugram.
The Programme started with the Inauguration programme, Mrs. Poonam Ahlawat, Associate Professor, Faculty of Nursing, SGT University, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Uday Shankar, Director, Plant Head, Mr. Gajendra Soni, General Manager, Marketing, Mr. Ravindra Yadav, HR Head, NIFCO graced the occasion.
Prof. Raman Deep Kaur, HOD, and Prof. Joseph Jeganathan, Faculty of Nursing, felicitated Mr. Uday Shankar, Director and Mr. Ravindra Yadav with Memento.
First session was conducted for the morning shift employees by Prof. Raman Deep Kaur, HOD, Faculty of nursing, SGT University, wherein she delivered an inspiring health talk on the Ill effects of tobacco use. Following that, Faculty Members, M.Sc (N) and B.Sc (N) student, Faculty of Nursing SGT University conducted screening for tobacco use among the employees and conducted individual Motivational Interviewing for the high risk group on Quitting Tobacco.
In the afternoon, the same session was conducted for the evening shift employees by Prof. Raman Deep Kaur. All Faculty members, M.Sc (N) and B.Sc (N) students, Faculty of Nursing SGT University performed screening test for tobacco use and a brief Motivational interviewing was given for the employees on Quitting Tobacco Use.
A total of 110 employees of NIFCO India Private Ltd. attended the session. The organization also encouraged and supported the employees to seek guidance and support for quitting tobacco use.
Prof. Ramandeep Kaur felicitated Mr.Gajendra Soni, General Manager, Mr. Uday Veer Senior HR Manager, Mr.Rajiv Sharma, Senior Engineer and Ms.Ankita HR Manager with sapling.
Mr. Gajendra Soni, General Manager, expressed his gratitude for organizing such a wonderful event and honoured Prof. Raman Deep Kaur , Dr.Joseph Jeganathan, Mrs. Poonam Ahlawat and Mrs. Ruchika Duggal, Faculty of Nursing, SGT University with memento.
The session ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Joseph Jeganathan, Faculty of Nursing, SGT University. The organization requested for future collaborations.
