Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar recently reflected on his illustrious 25-year journey in cinema, attributing much of his success to two influential figures in his life: producer Aditya Chopra and superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Johar expressed deep gratitude towards them for recognizing his potential early on and providing invaluable support.

He reminisced about his beginnings, starting with his involvement in Chopra’s iconic film “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” and later directing Khan in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.” Johar also shared a touching anecdote about directing Amitabh Bachchan for the first time, highlighting the nerves and gratitude he felt towards the legendary actor.

Johar was in the national capital to attend the All India Management Association (AIMA)’s ninth National Leadership Conclave, where he was honoured with the ‘director of the year’ award for 2023’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Despite his numerous achievements, Johar remains humble and emphasizes the importance of not resting on past laurels. He believes in embracing both success and failure, constantly evolving and moving forward.

Reflecting on the power of cinema, Johar echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sentiment about films being a soft power with a profound impact on society. He emphasized the responsibility that comes with this influence, noting that while one film may not change society overnight, cinema has the ability to raise awareness and highlight important issues like women empowerment.

In conclusion, Johar’s journey serves as an inspiration, showcasing the transformative power of passion, hard work, and the support of mentors. Through his films and words, he continues to contribute to the rich tapestry of Indian cinema while advocating for meaningful storytelling and social consciousness.
