Reported by Harsh Tripathi

Last night, at 9:34 PM, a powerful earthquake rattled Chamba in Himachal Pradesh, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale. The tremors were felt across the city and even reached as far as Manali, over 350 kilometers away. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any damages so far.

Earlier on April 1st, mild tremors were felt in Chamoli and Lahaul-Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh. The epicenter of the earthquake in Chamba was reported to be at a depth of 10 kilometers. The impact of the quake was felt in various parts of Northern India, including Chandigarh, Punjab, and parts of Haryana.

Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Chandigarh, shared his experience of feeling a sudden jolt, lasting just a few seconds. Interestingly, today marks the anniversary of a devastating earthquake in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, back in 1905, which claimed many lives and caused widespread destruction.

Meanwhile, discussions are underway regarding a recent earthquake that struck Taiwan on Wednesday. With a magnitude of 7.2, the quake wreaked havoc, causing several tall buildings to collapse. Social media is abuzz with videos and images capturing the destruction caused by the tremors. Train services were suspended, and power supply was disrupted in the affected areas.

This incident highlights the unpredictable nature of seismic activities and serves as a reminder for us to stay vigilant and prepared for such natural calamities.
