Rally, Poster making competition on ‘World TB Day’

World TB Day 2022 which falls on 24 March 2022 was observed on (the eve of World TB day i.e. 2 March 2022 in SGT University Budhera. Gurugram It was organized by the Departınent of Pulmonary Medicine. The pain of Medicine & Health Sciences., A rally was organized which stärted from A Block of SGT University and was flagged off by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor. Professor (Dr.) OP Kalra. This day is observed worldwide to create awareness about tuberculosis in the community as well as in Medica staff. About 250 Faculty Members & Residents of the University participated in a rally. They were carrying displaying posters and banners regarding tuberculosis disease. The rally made a round of hospital campuses and ended at the emergency gate of SGT Hospital. It was followed by a brief function in Hospital Auditorium 4″ Floor with lightening of the lamp, blessing, and addresses from dignitaries of university and hospital. The Theme of this day for this year was “Invest to end Tuberculosis and save lives”. Chief guest Professor (Dr.) OP Kalra stressed the urgent need for adequate allocation of the funds to fight against tuberculosis. The function was also addressed by Professor (Dr.) DPS Sudan Ex Prof. & Head Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine. About 250 delegates attended this function. Dr. KB Gupta Prof. & Head Department of Pulmonary Medicine welcomed all the participants of this function and informed the house about the importance of this function. This day is celebrated in the memory of Sir Robert Cock a German scientist who discovered Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, a causative organism of tuberculosis & announced his discovery on 24h March 1882. Dr. Mohit Bhardwaj Nodal Officer, NTEP Asst. Prof. Pulmonary Medicine presented a vote of thanks. A guest lecture on “Recent advances in tuberculosis” was delivered by Dr. Kamal Chapra Director New Delhi, TB center who informed about newer changes made in the NTEP to fulfill India’s commitment to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025. He stressed that the government of India is working hard to fulfill this commitment. He stressed uniting all sections of the health care system and community to fight against tuberculosis which is still a major public health problem as India shares about 20-25 % burden of tuberculosis. The program was followed by a poster competition in which the student of various departments participated and displayed their ideas and messages to create awareness and fight against tuberculosis. On this occasion Dr. IK Das, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Chander Mohan, DHA, Dr. Pankai Abrol. HOD Påediatrics, Dr. Vikas Kakkar HOD, ENT, Dr. JP Chugh, Professor Ophthalmology Dr. M Bhattacharya HOD. Community Medicine, Dr. Ved Pal, Asst.
