Workshop on ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal intervention in SGT University

Department of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging under the aegis of Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, SGT University, Budhera, Gurugram organised a Guest lecture and workshop on “Ultrasound-guided MSK interventions” delivered by distinguished radiologist Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis and Interventional Radiology, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi on          31st December 2021 at Hospital auditorium & Radiology department from 10 AM to 2 PM.

The workshop and lecture were premised on a skill-based approach to upgrade the professional competencies of the trainee doctors and junior faculty members in the scholastic domain of USG guided interventions in the musculoskeletal system.

The hands-on workshop laid emphasis on shoulder joint ultrasound and interventions wherein the trainer meticulously demonstrated a methodical approach to diagnose various shoulder joint abnormalities and the relevant therapeutic ultrasound-guided interventions. The didactic session not only delivered newer insights into the subject but also fuelled the inquisitive traits of the young minds. It was followed by a methodical and meticulous demonstration of injections in the various components of the pathologies in the patient. After the treatment, the immediate clinical outcome was also assessed to emphasise the successful therapeutic approach. Both the sessions were highly informative and absorbing for the participants.

Dr. Shyam Singla, Professor Emeritus, Dr. HN Malick, Additional Dean, Prof (Brig) Chander Mohan, SM (Director Hospital Administration) and the Head of Radiodiagnosis Department, Clinical HoDs, faculty members & postgraduate resident doctors of clinical departments were present among other attendees. Brigadier Chander Mohan introduced the expert, briefed about the event, and also summarised the proceedings.

The event was another landmark showcasing the persistent efforts of the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, SGT University, and the Department of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging towards professional learning involving face-to-face interactions with experts and hands-on training experience with the aim of providing comprehensive training to the postgraduate medical students.

Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, SGT University, Budhera, Gurugram believes in continuous rethinking and rebuilding of its pupil cantered pedagogies. The university plans to organise many more such events in the future.
