CBSE Permits Special Exam for Students Missing March 15 Test Due to Holi Celebrations
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a supplementary examination for students who are unable to take their board exams scheduled for March 15 due to Holi celebrations. This decision aims to ensure that students affected by the festival do not miss their exams.
CBSE’s Class 10 and 12 board exams began on February 15, with over 4.4 million students from 8,000 schools in India and abroad participating. The board received feedback indicating that while Holi will be celebrated in most places on March 14, some regions may observe the festival on March 15, or celebrations may extend to that date. Considering this, the board decided to offer a special exam for students unable to appear on the scheduled date.
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj confirmed this decision, stating that these students would be accommodated alongside those who take special exams due to national or international sports events.
Additionally, CBSE has implemented strict guidelines to maintain the integrity of the exams. Regular students are required to wear their school uniforms, whereas private candidates should dress in light-colored attire. The Class 10 board exams will continue until March 18, while the Class 12 exams will conclude on April 4.
This year, CBSE has also introduced adequate gaps between major subjects to help ease students’ exam preparation. The provision for a supplementary exam for students affected by Holi ensures fairness and flexibility, accommodating diverse regional festivities without disrupting academic assessments.
