Delhi Metro Yellow Line Extension Approved: Direct Route from Samaypur Badli to Sonipat

Delhi Metro commuters can look forward to improved connectivity, as the Yellow Line is set to be extended from Samaypur Badli to Sonipat via Nathupur. The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Tokhan Sahu, confirmed this expansion, which will greatly benefit travelers between Delhi and Haryana. This much-anticipated extension will provide a seamless and direct metro link, reducing travel time and increasing accessibility.

Government Approves the Extension

In a written statement to the Lok Sabha, Sahu clarified the project’s status. He confirmed that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has granted in-principle approval for the expansion and has authorized the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The DPR is a crucial step in initiating any major infrastructure project.

“The Central Government provides financial assistance to urban rail-based systems based on the feasibility of the proposal and the availability of resources, as and when requested by the concerned State Governments or Union Territory Administrations,” Sahu stated.

How Will It Benefit Commuters?

The extension of the Yellow Line will play a vital role in enhancing transportation within the National Capital Region (NCR). Commuters from Delhi, Haryana, and even Noida will benefit from reduced travel times, a safer commute, and improved accessibility to various areas. Compared to private taxis or cabs, metro travel is a more affordable and reliable option for daily commuters.

Additionally, this expansion will promote regional development by improving infrastructure and boosting economic growth. Increased metro connectivity often leads to urban development, enhanced property values, and job opportunities in connected regions.

Yellow Line Expansion: A Game Changer

Currently, the Yellow Line spans 47.2 km, running from Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre in Gurugram. The line serves 37 stations and offers eight interchange points, allowing seamless travel between different metro routes, including the Blue Line for Noida commuters via Rajiv Chowk.

With this extension, Sonipat will be directly linked to Delhi’s metro network, effectively integrating Haryana into the NCR transport system. Once completed, the project will revolutionize travel for thousands of daily commuters, making intercity travel faster and more convenient.

The approval of this extension marks a significant milestone in improving urban transport in the region. With the preparation of the DPR underway, commuters can look forward to the subsequent steps toward project execution and eventual completion.
