Water Crisis in Gurugram: THESE Areas to Face 30-Hour Water Disruption on April 7-8

Gurugram, April 4 – Residents of multiple areas in Gurugram are set to face a 30-hour-long water supply cut on April 7 and 8, as the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) undertakes the crucial task of connecting a newly built water treatment plant (WTP) at Chandu Budhera to the existing pipeline network.

Why is the Water Supply Being Disrupted?

According to GMDA officials, the newly constructed 100 MLD (Million Litres per Day) water treatment plant at Chandu Budhera is being integrated with the existing 1600mm diameter pipeline to improve the city’s water supply capacity. The process will require a 30-hour shutdown, impacting several localities.

The official statement from GMDA stated:
“The work of connecting the additional 100 MLD WTP Phase-IV to the existing 1600mm diameter pipeline at WTP Chandu Budhera will commence at 11 AM on April 7 and is expected to be completed by 5 PM on April 8. During this period, the water supply will be completely halted for approximately 30 hours.”

Which Areas Will Be Affected?

Residents of Old Gurugram and various sectors will experience water shortages during the shutdown. The affected areas include:

📍 Sectors 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12
📍 Sectors 81-115
📍 Dayanand Colony
📍 Old Gurugram
📍 Laxman Vihar
📍 Choti Mata Boosting Station

What Should Residents Do?

GMDA has advised residents to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the supply cut. They have also assured that efforts will be made to complete the connection process within the stipulated time to avoid extended inconvenience.

Water Supply Disruptions in the Past

This is not the first time Gurugram has faced water disruptions due to infrastructure upgrades. Last year, several areas experienced temporary supply cuts as part of the city’s water network enhancement plan. The authorities claim that these upgrades will enhance the city’s water supply efficiency and reduce future shortages.
