Haryana Vidhan Sabha Passes Six Bills on Final Day of Budget Session
Chandigarh: On the final day of its three-week budget session, the Haryana Vidhan Sabha passed six important bills, including provisions to increase the advance limit for legislators and regulate horticulture nurseries in the state.
One of the key bills, the Haryana Legislative Assembly Amendment Bill, 2025, raises the advance limit available to MLAs for house construction and vehicle purchases. Previously capped at ₹80 lakh, the limit has now been increased to ₹1 crore. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda noted that several members had requested this increase, citing rising costs and inflation. The new provisions will provide greater flexibility for accessing these advances.
Additionally, another amendment to the Haryana Legislative Assembly Act of 1986 was passed, extending medical facilities to family pension recipients. Previously, medical benefits ceased upon the death of a legislator, but the new amendment ensures continued healthcare support for family pension recipients, recognizing their growing medical needs and responsibilities.
Another significant bill that was passed is the Haryana Horticulture Nurseries Bill, 2025, which aims to streamline the registration and regulation of horticulture nurseries in the state. This bill requires nursery owners to register their establishments according to prescribed standards and covers various horticultural categories, including fruits, vegetables, spices, condiments, flowers, ornamental plants, as well as medicinal and aromatic crops.
These legislative measures represent a significant step forward in addressing the financial, healthcare, and agricultural concerns of the state. The session concluded with a strong emphasis on improving welfare and governance in Haryana.
