Hyderabad Airport Hit by 68 IndiGo Cancellations, Chaos Continues
Chaos continued at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Thursday, December 4, 2025, as widespread flight cancellations by IndiGo disrupted travel plans for thousands of passengers for the second consecutive day. Airport authorities confirmed that the airline had cancelled a total of 68 flights, including 35 arrivals and 33 departures, causing severe operational delays across the terminals.
The disruption was significantly worse than on Wednesday, December 3, when 31 IndiGo flights had already been cancelled, resulting in long queues, confusion, and extended waiting times. Passengers reported that conditions were even more chaotic on Thursday, with many struggling to obtain reliable information about revised flight timings or alternative arrangements.
In addition to the cancellations, several flights were delayed for prolonged periods. Many travelers complained that frequent schedule changes were being updated at the last minute, leaving them uncertain about their journeys. Videos circulating on social media showed anxious passengers confronting IndiGo staff at boarding gates, demanding answers about the repeated disruptions.
IndiGo stated on Wednesday evening, attributing the disturbances to “a multitude of unforeseen operational challenges.” These included minor technical glitches, winter-season-driven schedule modifications, adverse weather, increased air traffic congestion, and the implementation of updated Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) for crew members. The airline indicated that these combined factors created a ripple effect that was difficult to anticipate.
To stabilize its operations, IndiGo announced that it had initiated calibrated schedule adjustments that would continue for a 48-hour period. The airline stated that these temporary changes were necessary to restore punctuality and streamline its network operations.
Meanwhile, passenger frustration grew throughout the day. A widely shared video showed upset passengers on a Hyderabad–Bangalore flight arguing with airline staff. One woman questioned why flights were still being scheduled despite staff shortages, expressing anger over the distress caused to travelers with medical or urgent commitments.
Another clip uploaded by passenger Srikar Kandikonda showed agitated flyers confronting IndiGo personnel after some had reportedly been waiting at the airport for over 24 hours. Kandikonda mentioned that his own flight was cancelled just one hour before departure, adding that the airline had been “messing with people since yesterday.”
Several passengers took to social media to voice their concerns. Ravi Thakkar wrote that he had been stuck in Hyderabad for three days following repeated cancellations of flight 6E 883. “Rescheduled twice, cancelled every time. Now asked to stay one more day. Who covers my stay, transport, and work loss?” he questioned.
Another traveler, Aditya Bhargava, stated that his flight from Hyderabad to Madurai was cancelled at 3:15 a.m., even though it was scheduled to depart at 6:45 a.m. He also mentioned that he was unable to access IndiGo’s backup options, leaving him stranded without alternatives.
As passengers await clarity, Hyderabad Airport continues to experience heavy crowds and heightened tensions, with hopes that IndiGo’s corrective measures will ease the situation in the coming hours.
