Weather Alert: IMD Warns of Rainfall in Several States, Heatwave in Delhi and Northwest India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather advisory on April 5, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and heatwave conditions in different parts of the country over the next few days. The forecast comes amid changing weather patterns triggered by a cyclonic circulation and atmospheric disturbances.
According to the IMD bulletin, an upper air cyclonic circulation is currently positioned over central Madhya Pradesh, south Andaman, and its surrounding regions at lower tropospheric levels. This is expected to influence weather conditions across the southern peninsular region, the northeast, and parts of central and eastern India.
Rainfall and Thunderstorm Forecast
Due to these systems, isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is likely over:

South Peninsular India, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Odisha, and Northeast India on April 5 and 6

The IMD also forecasted isolated hailstorms over Assam and Meghalaya on April 5, and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on April 6.

Heatwave and Temperature Trends
The IMD has predicted a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C over northwest and central India over the next 6–7 days. Maharashtra can expect a rise of 3–4°C, while Gujarat will see steady temperatures for the next 24 hours before a gradual increase.

Hot and humid weather is also forecasted for Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa from April 5 to 10.
