Jaat Box Office Collection Day 1: Sunny Deol-Starrer Opens at ₹9.5 Crore, Fails to Match Gadar 2 Magic
Sunny Deol’s return to the silver screen with his latest action-packed drama Jaat has drawn attention, but the box office numbers on Day 1 suggest a more modest start than expected. The film raked in ₹9.5 crore on its opening day, a decent figure, but nowhere close to the massive opening of Deol’s 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2, which had stormed past ₹40 crore on Day 1.
Directed by Rajeev Mehta and produced under the banner of Aryan Films, Jaat was released across 3000+ screens in India on April 10, 2025. The film was promoted heavily with high-octane trailers and Deol’s signature action sequences, targeting both urban and rural audiences. Despite the anticipation, early box office figures indicate a lukewarm response in Tier 1 cities, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 centers saw relatively better footfalls.
Critics and trade analysts attribute the slower start to a combination of mixed reviews and high audience expectations post-Gadar 2. “The opening is not bad, but the shadow of Gadar 2 looms large. Fans were hoping for another mass entertainer with a strong emotional core, which seems to be lacking in Jaat,” noted film trade analyst Taran Khanna.
Despite the average start, all eyes are now on the weekend numbers. The film’s performance on Saturday and Sunday will be crucial in determining whether Jaat can pick up momentum through positive word-of-mouth and festive holiday advantage.
Jaat stars Sunny Deol in the lead, alongside new faces Aakriti Sharma and Anuj Bedi. The film follows the journey of a fearless villager who stands up against corruption and injustice, echoing classic Deol themes of rebellion and righteousness.
With a reported budget of around ₹60 crore, Jaat will need sustained collections over the next few weeks to be considered a box office success. For now, it’s a wait-and-watch situation for Deol fans and the Bollywood trade.
