PM Modi Launches ₹24,000 Cr Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana to Empower Farmers

In a major push to transform India’s agricultural landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, with a substantial outlay of ₹24,000 crore. The scheme is expected to benefit 1.7 crore farmers across 100 districts over the next six years.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Modi, approved this comprehensive agriculture-centric scheme as part of the government’s efforts to double farmers’ income and ensure sustainable rural development. Scheduled to run from FY 2025–26 to 2030–31, the scheme is built on the model of the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational District Programme and features 36 sub-schemes.

Key areas of focus include enhancing productivity, encouraging crop diversification, improving irrigation systems, and expanding access to agricultural credit and modern technologies. The implementation framework consists of a three-tier system: District Dhan-Dhaanya Committees will lead local planning, while state and national bodies will monitor and review progress regularly. A Central Nodal Officer will be appointed in each district for oversight.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the initiative, calling it a “historic step” towards empowering India’s rural economy. In a social media post, CM Yogi highlighted that this scheme goes beyond basic farming inputs and represents a bold vision for rural prosperity.

The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive and tech-driven agriculture. It is anticipated to boost both short-term growth and long-term sustainability in India’s farming sector.
