Nityanand Rai, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Reviews Status of Flagship Programs in UT Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 13th November 2021: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai convened a meeting with Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration to review the progress made under various centrally sponsored schemes and other flagship programmes under implementation in Union Territory of Chandigarh.

The Minister was apprised about the status of Iconic projects like Air Force Heritage Centre, Heritage Conservation, Green City, Clean City, and Smart City. All the major achievements of departments were also tabled by the officials.

The Administration also shared the progress report of the flagship schemes implemented in Chandigarh.

Under the iconic projects, it was shared that the work for Air Force Heritage Centre that will house Aircrafts, Simulators, Aero engines and other IAF artefacts will be completed by February 2022. Keeping in mind that preventive maintenance is the necessary conservation approach for built heritage, the Administration has set a target of December 2023 to conserve all major sites in Chandigarh. Beyond this, it was also highlighted that efforts are being made to make City Beautiful, the Clean, Green and Smart City.

The Union Minister expressed satisfaction and complimented the effective implementation of Government schemes in the UT. He also said that Chandigarh must be at the top position among all UT’s in achieving Sustainable development goals.
