20 Dead in Tragic Bus-Truck Collision in Telangana

A tragic road accident in Telangana’s Rangareddy district on Sunday morning (November 2, 2025) has left 20 people dead and several others injured after a passenger bus collided with a gravel-laden truck on the Hyderabad-Bijapur highway, about 60 km from Hyderabad.

The bus, belonging to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), was traveling from Tandur in Vikarabad district to Hyderabad with around 70 passengers onboard. The collision occurred when the bus hit a truck carrying construction material. The gravel from the truck spilled into the bus, trapping and burying several passengers inside.

Among the deceased were a 10-month-old baby, 10 women, and both drivers of the bus and the truck. Many passengers sustained serious injuries and were immediately shifted to a government hospital. Reports indicate that the condition of some of the injured remains critical.

Eyewitnesses described heartbreaking scenes as passengers buried under gravel screamed for help while rescue teams worked tirelessly to pull them out. Police and emergency responders had to cut through the damaged bus to retrieve the bodies. The front section of the bus, including the driver’s seat and the six rows behind it, suffered the most impact, with most passengers in that area dying on the spot.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed officials to reach the accident site immediately. He also instructed authorities to ensure swift rescue and medical assistance for the injured.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar spoke with TSRTC Managing Director Y. Nagireddy to investigate the cause of the accident. He also asked the Rangareddy district collector to ensure proper medical care for the victims.

KT Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), extended condolences to the families of the deceased. “The government must act quickly to support the victims’ families and provide the best possible treatment for the injured. A full investigation is needed to understand the cause of this horrific accident,” he said.

The accident has once again highlighted the need for strict road safety measures, especially for heavy vehicles carrying construction materials on highways.
