Amit Shah Visits Mumbai for Ganeshotsav Celebrations

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Mumbai on Friday evening for a two-day visit to attend Ganeshotsav celebrations across the city.

On Saturday, Shah is scheduled to visit the iconic Lalbaugcha Raja, one of Mumbai’s most famous Ganesh mandals, which draws millions of devotees every year during the festival. In addition to Lalbaug, Shah will also pay visits to Ganesh mandals in Bandra and Andheri.

Shah’s presence at Ganeshotsav highlights the cultural and political importance of the festival in Maharashtra. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated widely in Mumbai, with thousands of pandals set up across the city.

Apart from attending the festivities, Shah’s visit also carries political significance. He is expected to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, as well as Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Discussions are likely to focus on the current political scenario in Maharashtra, the ongoing Maratha protests, and the BJP’s preparations for upcoming local body elections.

Political observers note that Shah’s visit comes at a crucial time, as Maharashtra prepares for key elections. The festival offers an opportunity for BJP leaders to connect with the public, while also holding strategic meetings with alliance partners.

Speaking to reporters, a senior BJP leader said, “Ganeshotsav is not only about faith, it’s also about community and public engagement. The Home Minister’s visit reflects both cultural respect and political responsibility.”

Security has been tightened across Mumbai for Shah’s visit, with additional police deployment at major Ganesh mandals. Authorities are ensuring smooth crowd management as lakhs of devotees continue to visit pandals during the festival.

With this visit, Amit Shah blends devotion with politics, offering prayers at Mumbai’s most iconic Ganesh mandals while also reviewing the BJP’s roadmap for Maharashtra.
