CBIC to Introduce E-Processing for Gems & Jewellery Trade from Next Month
New Delhi: The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has announced the implementation of an electronic processing system for the import and export of gems, jewellery, and machinery samples carried by air passengers. This digital initiative will take effect on the 1st of May at selected airports across India.
Airports Included in the Initiative
According to CBIC’s announcement, the new system will facilitate personal carriage for exports and imports at specific airports:
– For Exports: The personal carriage of gems and jewellery will be permitted at nine airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Jaipur.
– For Imports: The personal carriage of gems and jewellery will be allowed at seven airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Jaipur.
– For Machinery Samples & Prototypes: This facility will initially be available only at four airports: Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai.
