Heavy Rainfall Brings Relief Across Delhi NCR
Several areas in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad experienced heavy rainfall, providing much-needed relief from the rising temperatures in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted additional showers and issued alerts for thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The rainfall resulted in a noticeable decrease in temperatures, with the maximum settling at around 26.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest recorded this month. This change in weather has brought relief to residents who had been enduring warmer days.
Official data shows that significant rainfall was recorded at Safdarjung, along with other stations such as Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge, and Ayanagar. Many areas reported moderate to heavy rainfall, indicating a weather system affecting the region.
Meteorologists attribute the rainfall to a western disturbance over northern Pakistan and adjacent Jammu and Kashmir, along with a cyclonic circulation over Haryana. These factors have led to widespread precipitation across northern India.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the coming days, advising residents to exercise caution due to potential thunderstorms and lightning that may disrupt normal activities. Authorities have also warned of possible waterlogging and traffic disruptions in low-lying areas.
This ongoing weather pattern has made March one of the wettest in recent years, underscoring the intensity of the current spell.
