Delhi Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead of Chhath Puja on October 27–28

The Delhi Traffic Police has released a detailed advisory ahead of Chhath Puja celebrations on October 27 and 28, 2025. With thousands of devotees expected to gather at ghats and water bodies across the city, authorities have implemented special arrangements to handle heavy traffic congestion.

Traffic is expected to be slow in parts of East, Central, South, and Outer Delhi, especially near major ponds and Chhath sites. Officials have urged commuters to use public transport, particularly the Delhi Metro, to avoid getting stuck in jams.

Key routes likely to face congestion include M.B. Road (from Lal Kuan to Tughlakabad Extension), Khadar Kalindi Kunj Road, Agra Canal Road, and Road No. 13 with adjoining areas. Traffic movement is expected to be affected on the afternoon of October 27 and the morning of October 28.

Specific diversions have been planned to ensure smooth flow:

  • Bhajanpura Area: No commercial vehicles on GT Road towards Yudhishthir Setu from Shastri Park during 5 PM–7 PM (Oct 27) and 5 AM–7 AM (Oct 28).

  • Gandhi Nagar Area: Shantivan Loop and Laxmi Nagar to Kailash Nagar Road will be closed during the same time slots, with traffic diverted via Disused Canal Road.

  • Khajuri Khas Area: Vehicles heading towards Sonia Vihar will be redirected from Nanaksar towards Old Wazirabad Road.

There will be no restrictions near major railway stations or ISBTs, but travellers are advised to start early and plan extra travel time.

Authorities have also requested citizens to park only in designated areas, avoid roadside parking, and follow real-time traffic updates on Delhi Traffic Police’s social media handles.
