Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with  FAI organises Fertilizer Orientation Course.

Fertilizer Association of India, New Delhi in collaboration with Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, SGT University organized a Fertilizer Orientation Course on 28 March 2022 for students and faculty members. The course was inaugurated by Prof. R.C. Kuhad, Pro-Chancellor, SGTU and presided over by Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. Prof Kumar welcomed the speakers and thanked Northern Region FAI, New Delhi and Dr. D.S. Yadav, Director (Publications & PR, FAI), and Mr. Harinder Kaushik, Officer, FAI-NR for organizing the course in SGT University. Prof. Ashok Kumar put forth his views of growth in fertilizer industry and the switching of farmers from bulky organic manures to Nano fertilizers during the last four decades or so. Mr. Harinder Kaushik, Officer, FAI, Northern Region presented vote of thanks.

An overview of fertilizer scenarios in India and abroad was presented by Dr. D.S. Yadav. Dr. V. K. Tomar, Joint General Manager (Mktg.), KRIBHCO (Noida) highlighted the importance of efficient nutrient management in different crops. The use of Nano Fertilizers was introduced by Mr. Rajneesh Pandey, Chief Manager (Mktg.), IFFCO, New Delhi. IFFCO has introduced Nano fertilizers, nitrogen and phosphorus in the market last year and farmers are responding well to the newly introduced products. Mr. Sanjay Ahlawat, Head- Commercial & Export & DBT, Yara Fertilizers India Pvt. Ltd., Gurugram spoke about distribution channel of fertilizers in India. Role of specialty fertilizers in agriculture was explained by Mr. Ajay Jha, Head (Retail Operations), Indorama India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi.

Mr. Nakul Pathak, Sr. Executive Director (HR), IFFCO, New Delhi apprised the students about IFFCO and the agri-business job opportunities in the country. He explained the students about the requirement of human resources in IFFCO, and how to crack an interview especially in the fertilizer industry.

In the concluding session, there was a question-answer session conducted by FAI and the FASC, and students who were successful in the quiz session were awarded with free books by FAI, New Delhi.
