Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya inaugurates health check up camp for special children at SGT University

Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday inaugurated a medical screening and health check-up camp for special children at the SGT University, Gurugram. More than 500 special children from Mewat, Gurugram, and Jhajjar were examined at SGT University.

Shri Dattatreya said that 75,000 Divyangs will undergo medical check-ups across the nation on April 5 and April 7. They will return to the playground after two years due to Covid-19 pandemic under ‘National Health Fest for Divyangjan’ Special Olympic India.

Shri Dattatreya said that the special children will be examined by 7,500 specialist doctors from across the country and this will be a historic moment. He said that Central and State Governments as well as Special Olympics India and other institutions are concerned for special childrens’ and they need to make more efforts to identify such children from the rural area.

Shri Dattatreya said that the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has been constituted by the Central Government under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for the welfare of the disabled. Many schemes are being run by this department to empower the differently-abled. A provision of Rs. 2,172 crore has also been made by the Central Government in the budget to operate schemes related to the disabled. Not only this, many laws have also been made by the Central Government to protect the rights of Divyangjan.

Chairperson, Special Olympics India, Dr. Mallika Nadda while praising SGT University said that the University had given a special invitation otherwise this event would have been taking place somewhere in Delhi. She said that health screening and check-up camps for special children are being organized all over India on 5th April and on 7th April on the occasion of World Health Day. She said that her aim is to bring such children to the playground, send them to school and connect them with the mainstream after the Corona period. She expressed her gratitude to the Governor of Haryana, Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya for inaugurating the medical screening camp.

Speaking on the occasion, Padma Shri Ram Bahadur Rai, Chancellor of SGT University said that it is a matter of great pride that SGT University has got the opportunity to conduct health screening. He said that this moment is a memorable occasion for all of us. He said that the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi has given a call to make everyone self-reliant during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, and Shri Modi is the only PM who has awakened the resolving power in Indians.

Director-General, Health, Dr. Veena Singh, assured that in every government hospital of Haryana, a day of the month would be given for the differently-abled for their health screening and medical checkups and nodal officers would also be posted in this regard.

On this occasion, Haryana BJP state president OP Dhankhar, Dashmesh Educational Charitable Trust chairperson Madhupreet Kaur Chawla, Managing Trustee Dashmesh Educational Charitable Trust, Manmohan Singh Chawla, faculty members, and staff were present during this occasion.
