SGT University Elective Observership Program

The program began with a warm reception and an informative tour of the Oral Medicine Department and the state-of-the-art SGT Centre for Maxillofacial Imaging. The students were introduced to various oral and maxillofacial disorders through demonstrations and case discussions. This introduction set the stage for a week filled with meaningful clinical experiences.

One of the key highlights of the observership was the practical exposure students gained in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures commonly performed in the department. They witnessed key procedures such as Punch Biopsy, Laser Excision, and Biostimulation, providing them with valuable insights into the application of advanced technology and techniques in treating oral lesions and other maxillofacial disorders.

In addition to the clinical demonstrations, the students had the unique opportunity to engage in an interactive session with Dr. (Prof) Omkar Shetty, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, along with the Heads of Departments. This session allowed students to ask questions, share their observations, and gain deeper insights into the evolving field of oral medicine and radiology. The discussions provided a broader perspective on patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the future of dentistry.
