UIDAI Launches Aadhaar Mascot ‘Udai’ to Simplify Services

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched the official Aadhaar mascot named ‘Udai’ on Thursday. This initiative aims to make Aadhaar-related information and services more relatable and user-friendly. By improving public communication, UIDAI seeks to simplify the understanding of Aadhaar processes.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the mascot will help explain various Aadhaar services, such as demographic and biometric updates, authentication procedures, and offline verification in a more straightforward and accessible way.

The Aadhaar mascot was created through a nationwide Mascot Design Contest organized by UIDAI on the MyGov platform last year. The contest invited citizens to design and name an official mascot for Aadhaar and received an enthusiastic response, with 875 entries submitted from across the country.

During the launch, UIDAI Chief Executive Officer Bhuvnesh Kumar emphasized that this initiative reaffirmed Aadhaar’s core principle by involving citizens directly in its creation. He noted that the strong public participation reflects people’s trust and emotional connection with Aadhaar as a vital digital identity system.

UIDAI expects the mascot ‘Udai’ to play a crucial role in outreach and awareness campaigns, helping citizens better understand Aadhaar-related services while promoting transparency and accessibility in digital governance.
