UP Police Issues Guidelines for Mission Shakti Centres
Uttar Pradesh Police has issued detailed guidelines for setting up Mission Shakti centres in all police stations across the state. This initiative is part of the state government’s flagship Mission Shakti campaign, aimed at enhancing women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance.
According to directives from DGP Rajeev Krishna, Mission Shakti centres will function as mini police outposts, exclusively dedicated to handling cases related to crimes against women. Each centre will be led by an officer-in-charge at the level of a sub-inspector, preferably a woman.
Supporting staff will include 1-4 additional sub-inspectors, 4-15 constables (half of them women), 1-2 female home guards, and counsellors as required. Officers posted at these centres will serve for three to five years, with transfers after specialized training.
The move is expected to provide a safer environment for women, ensure faster reporting and resolution of cases, and strengthen the community’s trust in law enforcement. Mission Shakti centres will also provide guidance and counselling for women, creating a supportive framework for victims of crime.
By prioritizing women-led police teams and specialized handling of cases, the UP Police aims to make every police station more approachable and responsive to women in the state.
