Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Voting on November 6 and 11, Results on November 14
The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The elections will take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes occurring on November 14.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar referred to the Bihar poll as “the mother of all elections.” He stated that approximately 850,000 officials will be deployed across the state to ensure the smooth conduct of voting for all 243 assembly seats.
The Model Code of Conduct is now in effect in Bihar. Polling will be conducted in 121 constituencies during the first phase and in 122 constituencies during the second phase.
Gyanesh Kumar announced that over 90,712 polling booths will be set up for around 74.3 million voters. The notification for the first phase will be issued on October 10, with nominations accepted until October 17. For the second phase, the notification will be released on October 13, and nominations can be filed until October 20.
For the first time, a general observer will be assigned to each constituency to serve as the “eyes and ears” of the Election Commission. Webcasting will be conducted at all polling stations for close monitoring.
The CEC instructed all District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards violence. Adequate Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be deployed throughout Bihar to maintain law and order and to prevent the illegal movement of drugs, cash, and liquor.
Additionally, the counting of postal ballots must be completed before the final two rounds of vote counting. The Election Commission has also emphasized the need to combat fake news and misinformation during the election period.
Moreover, by-elections will take place on November 11 in eight assembly constituencies across seven states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram, and Odisha.
The Election Commission has urged political parties to cooperate fully to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in Bihar.
