India Continues Strong Medal Run at Asian Games
Indian athletes continued to make their presence felt at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, producing strong performances across several sporting disciplines. India’s medal campaign has featured notable results in shooting, squash, boxing, kurash and other events as the competition progresses in Japan.
Shooting has remained one of the key contributors to India’s medal tally, with Indian shooters securing podium finishes across individual and team events. The country has also added medals through squash and boxing, while Indian athletes have competed strongly in a range of disciplines.
The Indian women’s hockey team has also maintained an unbeaten run in the tournament. In their final Pool B match, India defeated Singapore 7-0 on September 27, completing five victories from five group matches and finishing at the top of Pool B.
Captain Salima Tete opened the scoring against Singapore, while Sunelita Toppo scored twice. Lalremsiami and Rutuja Pisal also found the net before Nikki Pradhan and Deepika Sehrawat added goals in the second half. The result secured India’s place in the semi-finals, where the team is scheduled to face South Korea on September 30.
India’s wider campaign has also seen significant achievements in athletics, squash and boxing as the Games enter their later stages. Recent competition saw Indian athletes add multiple medals in athletics and squash, while Indian boxers secured medal positions by reaching their respective semi-finals.
With competitions continuing across multiple venues, Indian athletes will now look to build on these performances in the remaining events. The Aichi-Nagoya Games continue to provide opportunities for India across both individual and team sports.
