SGT University Hosts Special Olympics Bharat National Coaches Training Program in Hockey
SGT University proudly launched the Special Olympics Bharat National Coaches Training Program in Hockey on October 30, 2025, in collaboration with Special Olympics Bharat and the Mansha Foundation. This four-day national event, running from October 30 to November 2, aims to empower hockey coaches from across India with advanced skills, innovative techniques, and a compassionate understanding to train athletes with intellectual disabilities effectively.
The event seeks to prepare India’s young hockey talents for competition at the 2027 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Santiago, Chile.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Shrimati Raj Rani Malhotra (Mayor of Gurugram), Dr. Atul Nasa (Pro Vice Chancellor of SGT University), Mr. Coen van Putten (International Coach, Federation of Indian Hockey), Dr. Varsha Jain (Founder of Mansha Foundation), and Shrimati Latika Sharma (President of Special Olympics Bharat, Haryana). Their motivational speeches and presence marked the beginning of an inspiring and empowering journey for the participating coaches.

The first day began with enthusiasm, featuring engaging discussions, hands-on learning, and a spirit of teamwork. In the coming days, participants will experience a combination of theoretical insights and practical on-field training sessions at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
SGT University continues to support initiatives that promote “Inclusion Through Sports,” fostering a culture where every athlete’s abilities are celebrated and every coach serves as a catalyst for change.
