Delhi Budget Allocates ₹260 Crore for Free LPG

The Delhi government has introduced a significant relief measure in its latest budget by allocating ₹260 crore for providing free LPG cylinders to households during the festivals of Holi and Diwali. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also oversees the finance portfolio, presented a budget of ₹1,03,700 crore, emphasizing both welfare and infrastructure development. This scheme aims to alleviate the financial burden on families during these major celebrations.

In addition to the LPG scheme, the budget includes important allocations across various sectors. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has been allocated ₹11,666 crore, while ₹5,921 crore is designated for public works and infrastructure development.

The government has also prioritized improvements in connectivity, road safety, and environmental sustainability. Several projects, including water supply enhancements, urban development, and industrial area upgrades, have received substantial funding.

Moreover, ₹9,000 crore has been allocated for water and sewage management, underscoring the government’s commitment to addressing essential civic needs.

Described as a “green budget,” this financial plan seeks to balance development with sustainability while providing relief to citizens. The LPG scheme, in particular, is expected to directly benefit households and make festive celebrations more affordable.
