The Department of Public Health Dentistry organized an Oral health check-up and treatment camp at Sarola Village

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University is
celebrating World Oral Health Day 2023 through month long celebrations around 20 th March
2023. In the same series of outreach activities the department in collaboration with SGT
Publicity Team organized an Oral health check-up and treatment camp on 23rd March, 2023
at Sarola Village, Jhajjar District, Haryana. The Medical Hospital team of doctors was also
part of the team screening health needs of all the villagers.
The dental team took initiative under guidance of Dr. Shourya Tandon (Associate Dean and
Prof. and Head) and was headed by Dr. Charu Khurana (Associate Professor, Dept. of Public
Health Dentistry) along with 2 postgraduates students Dr. Pratishtha (Dept. of Oral Surgery)
and Dr. Divya (Dept. of Prosthodontics) and 6 interns Reetika, Rashmit, Palak, Sakshi, Nikita
and Nisha along with two attendants Mr. Sunil and Mr. Darshan. Dental checkup of 60
villagers was carried out including 34 males and 26 females. A total of 21 patients were
provided treatment in mobile dental van at camp site. All patients requiring complex
treatment were referred to SGT Dental Hospital, SGT University. Awareness session on
importance of Oral health, correct methods of oral hygiene practices, healthy diet, Common
oral health problems, demonstration of brushing techniques and Ill effects of tobacco
consumption was conducted for all the attendees of the camp. Different Oral Hygiene aids
like toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwashes along with Basic medicines and Information,
Education and communication material on Oral Health depicting "Be Proud of Your Mouth"
was distributed among all the individuals reported at camp. All the villagers appreciated the
dental team and expressed their gratitude for organizing such health camp and motivate them
to lead a better quality of life.
The department is collaborating further for more such activities regularly and especially
during this month long World Oral Health Day Celebrations.
