Faculty of Agricultural Sciences visit to Vigen Seeds and Biotech Pvt. Ltd., IMT Manesar, Haryana.

Educational cum Industrial visit was organized on 21 ST March 2023 by Dr. Khushboo Chandra and
Dr. Suman of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, SGT University for 2nd year B.Sc. (Hons.)
Agriculture students to Vigen Seeds and Biotech Pvt. Ltd., IMT Manesar, Haryana. Vigen Seeds
And Biotech Private Limited is a Private incorporated on 01 September 2005 as Non-govt
Company and is registered at Registrar of Companies, Kanpur. It is involved in growing, processing
and marketing of vegetables crops. Directors of Vigen Seeds and Biotech Private Limited are Vinod
Kumar Dhasmana, Charan Jeet Mehta, Ganga Prasad Chaurasia, Anita Chaurasia and Manju
Chaurasia. Mr. C.J. Mehta, Quality Head and Mr. Dhasmana, Marketing Head Vigen Seeds and
Biotech Pvt. Ltd shared their experience about research development, quality control and Marketing
in different seed firms like Rasi Seeds, Mahyco & Monsanto .There were 44 students who visited
seed company where the leant about various seed processing unit like seed theater, seed cleaner
cum grader, spiral separator, quality control by checking germination by paper roll towel and sand
dibbling methods. Students visited farm where students seen Wheat, Oat, Mustard, Tomato, Brinjal,
Carrot, Radish crops. The farm managers explained emasculation and hybridization techniques in
brinjal and tomato. Meanwhile also explain why costs of hybrid seeds are more as compared to
varieties. Students visited to nursery trials where by grow out test carried out to check the specific
DUS characteristics of any particular varieties under production and supply chain. At end of the
visit Mr. Vinod Kumar explained that the main vision of any seed company was to make available
quality seeds to the farmers locally. To encourage farmers, FPOs for taking Seed production of all
crops including oilseeds, Pulses, green manure and fodder crops, making available quality seeds of
these crops to farmers locally.
