Zonal Administrator Ashutosh Rajan Leads Cleanliness Drive in Gurugram Markets
Gurugram, August 30 – In a determined push for cleanliness and accountability, Zonal Administrator of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, Sh. Ashutosh Rajan actively led a special cleanliness drive under the Haryana Shehri Swachhta Abhiyan across various market committees of Gurugram district today.
The drive was carried out in New Vegetable Market Gurugram, New Grain Market Heli Mandi, New Grain Market Farrukhnagar, and New Grain Market Sohna. Demonstrating personal commitment, Sh. Rajan performed shramdaan (voluntary labour) at the New Vegetable Market Gurugram, setting an example for employees and traders alike. Officials from all Marketing Board offices also participated in the campaign.

As part of the event, Sh. Rajan administered a cleanliness pledge to employees and traders. He stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene within markets and instructed all traders to keep dustbins near their shops. Clear warnings were issued that violations of cleanliness rules would invite strict action. Street vendors were directed to maintain hygiene around their carts, with the caution that carts may be confiscated in case of repeated violations.
In a move to ensure discipline among staff, Sh. Rajan conducted a surprise inspection of the Executive Engineer’s office. During this visit, he directed that show-cause notices be issued to employees found absent without permission. He emphasized that both cleanliness and accountability were equally crucial in delivering better services to the public.
Speaking at the event, Sh. Rajan said, “Cleanliness is of utmost importance. This campaign will continue regularly. I appeal to the public to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and encourage others to do the same.” He also announced that the market committee performing best in the cleanliness campaign will be rewarded to motivate healthy competition.
The drive saw the active presence of senior officials, including Sh. Vinay Yadav, District Marketing Enforcement Officer, Gurugram, and Sh. Yaduraj Yadav, Secretary and Executive Officer, Market Committee Gurugram, along with other dignitaries who also participated in the shramdaan.
This initiative reflects the government’s larger commitment to strengthening public participation in cleanliness drives and ensuring that market areas remain hygienic and welcoming for traders and consumers alike.
