Chinese scientists at the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence (BIGAI) have unveiled Tong Tong, the world’s first AI child. Tong Tong, meaning “Little Girl,” made her debut at the Frontiers of General Artificial Intelligence Technology Exhibition.

Despite being confined to the digital realm, Tong Tong possesses emotional intelligence and a vocabulary of over 600 words, equivalent to that of a three- or four-year-old human. With the ability to learn autonomously, Tong Tong’s capabilities are expected to grow over time. Unlike any AI program before her, Tong Tong displays a remarkable level of emotional involvement and strives to understand human common sense.

She can distinguish between right and wrong, express her attitudes, and has the potential to shape the future. Utilizing artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing, Tong Tong can adapt her actions to various situations, impressing audiences with her ability to clean up virtual messes and correct errors.
