Faculty of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram, celebrated International Nurses Day 2023

Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on every 12 th May, the birth anniversary of Florence
Nightingale, the founder of Modern Nursing, to mark the significant contributions made by nurses in
the healthcare industry, nursing academics, administration and nursing research. The International
Council of Nurses releases a theme for this day every year. The theme for International Nurses Day
this year is Our Nurses Our Future. To keep the practice alive, the Faculty of Nursing, SGT University,
Gurugram, celebrated International Nurses Day 2023 by organising a series of theme-based events,
namely a debate competition, poster competition, role play, dance performance and a guest
lecture. A total of 7 teams from B. Sc Nursing GNM participated in the debate competition. Each
member of the team beautifully expressed their opinion for and against the notion. The students
articulated their creativity through posters, role play and a dance performance. The events were
judged by Dr Shourya Tandon, FDS; Dr Heenu Dhar, FMHS and Lt. Col. Saroj Mahanta, CNS, SGT
Hospital. 3 teams for the debate competition and the 3 best posters were presented with awards
and certificates. Prof (Dr) Ashia Qureshi, Former faculty, College of Nursing, AIIMS, New Delhi and
ex-Dean, College of Nursing, Galgotias University, Noida, was the resource person for the guest
lecture. She inspired budding professionals with her exemplary professional journey and also her
words of motivation. She appreciated the participants and winners for their performances. The
event was coordinated by Ms Bharti Sachdeva Sahni and Ms Nutan Kumari under the overall
supervision of Prof (Dr) Pity Koul, Dean, Faculty of Nursing.
