Haryana Govt Launches Sakhi Niwas Yojana to Support Working Women

In a significant move to empower working women, the Haryana Government has announced the construction of hostels with childcare facilities in Faridabad and Gurugram under the Sakhi Niwas Yojana. These hostels will provide safe, affordable accommodation and daycare services for women with children.

The initiative is being spearheaded by Haryana Mahila Vikas Nigam, allowing women to stay with their boys up to 12 years old and girls up to 18 years old. Special priority will be given to economically weaker sections (EWS) and women with disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a resident of Haryana
  • Monthly income limit: ₹50,000 in metros, ₹35,000 in other areas
  • Women earning above the limit must vacate within three months
  • Required documents: Aadhaar card, police verification report, income certificate

Each hostel will be built on a one-acre plot, accommodating 200 women, with an estimated cost of ₹65.3 crore. The scheme aims to support single mothers and working women, ensuring a safe and inclusive living environment across the state.
