Mega Camp for Senior Citizens and Individuals With Special Needs
Chandigarh, November 11 2021: The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration has organized a Mega Camp from November 10 to November 17, 2021, for “Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens” at Aasha Kiran, Sector 46, Chandigarh.
During this Mega Camp, registration is being done for various schemes like UDID Card, e-Shram Card, Voter ID Card and Welfare schemes for Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens.
During the first three days of this Mega Camp (i.e. from 10th to November 12, 2021), an assessment of Divyangjans (Persons with Disabilities) and Senior Citizens for free distribution of Aids and Appliances and other assistive devices is being carried out in association with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), an agency functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment / Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
During the first two days of the camp (i.e. on 10th and 11th November 2021), 160 disabled and 10 Senior Citizens have been assessed by a team of experts from ALIMCO, and assistive aids and appliances have been recommended/allocated as per their disability and requirements. Further, the recommended/allocated aids and appliances will be distributed to identified disabled during the current financial year 2021-2022. The Mega Camp is being organised in accordance to the SOP/Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, amid Covid-19 pandemic.
All the Persons with Disabilities and the Senior Citizens are requested to visit this Mega Camp to avail benefits under various services/schemes.
