Raipur Traffic Cops Launch E-Rickshaw Initiative to Boost Road Safety
In a step towards improving road safety and spreading awareness, the Raipur Traffic Police has introduced a unique e-rickshaw initiative. The specially fitted e-rickshaw moves across crowded areas of the city, making live announcements urging commuters to wear helmets, fasten seat belts, obey traffic signals, and avoid rash driving.
The initiative, launched under the direction of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Raipur, is being closely monitored. ASP Traffic Prashant Shukla highlighted that this effort combines awareness campaigns with enforcement drives, particularly targeting illegal and no-parking violations that often lead to congestion and accidents.
“Along with awareness, we are also taking strict action against illegal parking, as such violations not only block traffic but also put lives at risk. Our aim is to ensure smoother movement and reduce congestion,” Shukla said.
At present, only one e-rickshaw has been deployed as part of an experimental phase. Authorities plan to expand the project further based on its effectiveness and public feedback.
With Raipur witnessing rapid vehicle growth and rising accident cases, this people-friendly initiative is seen as a crucial step in encouraging citizens to follow traffic rules voluntarily. Officials believe that a combination of awareness and strict enforcement will help instill long-term road discipline in the city.
