SGT University organizes “Save and Support the Girl Child” event

Under a series of events being organized to mark “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava”, the SGT University here organized a session on “Save and Support the Girl Child” on Monday.

Dr Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of Association of Indian Universities, was the chief guest for the event.

The event began with lighting of lamp by Dr Mittal, Chairman Shri Dashmesh Charitable Education Trust Manmohan Singh Chawla, Vice Chancellor Dr OP Kalra and Dr Vikas Dhawan, Pro VC of the university.

Dr Mittal said in her address that she felt pride when she saw girls achieving new heights in their career.

She said there was hardly any field in the world today where girls have not made their mark, be it sports, academics, science, information and technology or any other fields.

She said during her visits to SGT University, too, she has observed that girls are on the forefront in every field.

Dr Kalra mentioned the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” scheme launched by Haryana government and said this is helped the state improve its gender ratio considerably.

A short film “Red” on the topic menstrual hygiene was exhibited during the programme.
