The Department of Public Health Dentistry conducts an Oral Health Checkup and Treatment Camp No Tobacco Day Drive at SB Packagings Pvt. Ltd.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University conducted an Oral Health Checkup and Treatment Camp No Tobacco Day Drive at SB Packagings Pvt. Ltd. in Sampla nearby Rohtak District, Haryana. The Dental team took the initiative under the guidance of Dr. Shourya Tandon (Prof. & Head and Associate Dean). Dr. Meenakshi Chopra (Associate Professor) & Dr. Charu Khurana (Associate Professor) headed the dental team on respective days along with 2 Postgraduate Students Dr. Harshita (Post Graduate, Department of Prosthodontics) and Dr. Eshika (Post Graduate, Department of Periodontics) on day one & Dr. Ida (Dept. of Periodontology) and Dr. Sameera (Dept. of Oral Surgery) on day two. BDS Interns – Jatin, Ishan, Mohini, Fiza, Garima, Ragini, Diksha, Livanshi, Jagriti, Lokesh, Mumtaz, and 1 attendant- Mr. Sunil actively participated and
accompanied the dental team. Including the 2 days camp at the mentioned location, a total of 224 workers of the manufacturing factory were examined including 45 females and 179 males. Of which, 79 patients were provided
treatment (oral prophylaxis) in the Mobile dental van on the campsite. All patients suffering from complex dental problems were informed, given referral slips, and advised for appropriate dental treatment, and referred to the SGT Dental Hospital, Gurugram. Medicines and Oral Hygiene aids such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash were also distributed among the attendees of the dental camp. Along with the screening, a health talk was also delivered on the importance of Oral Health, Oral hygiene practices, the importance of brushing, proper brushing technique, common dental problems, adverse oral habits, and preventive remedies. Patients who reported a history of tobacco consumption either in any form of smoking or chewing were explained about its injurious effects not only on their overall health but also harmful to their loved ones around them. Positive feedback was obtained from all the patients who got their treatment done then and there only. The purpose of the dental camp was to create awareness in the community towards the importance of oral health and motivate them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
