Department of Public Health Dentistry organizes a workshop on “Envisioning Research in Oral Health”
Innova8 Oral Health Care Academic Association constituted under the Department of Public Health Dentistry, organized a workshop on “Envisioning Research in Oral Health: The Need for an Early Kickstart”. The workshop was held in the Medical Auditorium, C Block, and started with words of wisdom and speech by the chief guest, Dr. Vamsi Krishna Reddy (General Secretary, IAPHD) & Honorable Vice Chancellor Sir, Dr. O.P. Kalra. The event was conceived and organized by Dr. Shourya Tandon, Associate Dean, and Professor & Head, Public Health Dentistry, and his team of faculty members. Dean, FDSC Dr. Omkar Krishna Shetty, and other University Officials along with Head of various Departments were present in solidarity for the event. The guest lectures were delivered by Dr. Naveen PG (Professor and HOD, Department of Public Health Dentistry, BHU, Varanasi) and Dr. Harsh Priya (Additional Professor, Department of Public Health Dentistry, CDER, AIIMS, Delhi); the keynote speakers enlightened us on exciting as well as challenging research topics. In addition to that, they also highlighted where and how to apply for extramural grants at the undergraduate level and the career opportunities available in research through their extensive experience and knowledge in the field. An interactive session on important research-related activities was held following the presentations by the speakers. The incredible scale of the discussion gave the students a boost to participate in future research opportunities. The event organized under the aegis of the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry was attended by all the dental faculty members and approximately 150 BDS Undergraduates and they showed colossal enthusiasm during the workshop.
