PM Modi Honoured with Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key

New Delhi/Mauritius: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history on Wednesday by becoming the first Indian leader and the fifth foreign national to receive Mauritius’ highest national honor—the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean. The award was presented by President Dharam Gokhool during the 57th National Day celebrations of Mauritius, marking a significant milestone in the enduring friendship between the two nations.

While accepting the award, PM Modi expressed deep gratitude and humility, dedicating the honor to the 1.4 billion people of India. “This is not just my honor; it is the honor of every Indian. It is a tribute to the centuries-old cultural and historical bonds that connect India and Mauritius,” he stated.

The Prime Minister highlighted the contributions of Indian ancestors who migrated to Mauritius and played a vital role in shaping the country’s development and rich cultural diversity. “Through their hard work, they wrote a golden chapter in the progress of Mauritius,” he added. 

PM Modi also emphasized the shared commitment of both countries toward regional peace, progress, security, and sustainable development. He described the award as a symbol of hope and aspiration for the Global South and reaffirmed India’s pledge to further strengthen its strategic partnership with Mauritius. 

“I embrace this honor as a responsibility. India will continue to make every effort to enhance our partnership and work towards a brighter future,” he concluded.

The recognition of PM Modi’s leadership and dedication to fostering international unity further cemented India’s position on the global stage, reinforcing the country’s vision for mutual growth and cooperation among nations.
