PM Modi Flags Off Three New Vande Bharat Trains via Videoconference

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains via videoconference, marking a significant boost to connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The new routes include Meerut—Lucknow, Madurai—Bengaluru, and Chennai—Nagercoil.

PM Modi emphasized aligning these initiatives with the ‘Make in India’ and Aatmanirbhar Bharat visions in his address. He highlighted that the new trains will facilitate easier travel for pilgrims, students, and professionals, and are set to enhance tourism and economic opportunities in their respective regions.

The Prime Minister noted that introducing these trains is a step towards achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ underscoring the government’s commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure. He also mentioned significant budget increases for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with a focus on expanding and modernizing the rail network.

PM Modi praised the impact of these trains on reducing travel time—saving up to 2 hours between Chennai and Nagercoil, and about 1 hour between Madurai and Bengaluru. He also highlighted ongoing improvements in rail infrastructure, including electrification and station modernization, as part of the broader vision for an upgraded railway system.

The event was attended virtually by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, Governors of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among others.

These new Vande Bharat trains are expected to offer enhanced comfort and efficiency, catering to the diverse needs of travelers and supporting the region’s economic growth.
