PM Modi Concludes Productive BRICS Summit Visit in Brazil

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded the Rio de Janeiro leg of his official Brazil visit after participating in the 17th BRICS Summit. Calling the event “very productive,” PM Modi praised the host nation, Brazil, for its successful presidency and shared his vision for India’s upcoming BRICS chairmanship.

In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, “We had extensive deliberations at the BRICS Summit. I compliment President Lula and the Brazilian Government for making this platform even more effective.”

During the summit, PM Modi joined fellow leaders from Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa for detailed discussions on global cooperation, economic development, and sustainable growth. As India prepares to take the BRICS chairmanship next, the Prime Minister revealed that the core theme under India’s leadership will be “Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability.”

He emphasized India’s commitment to people-centric progress, inclusivity, and cross-border partnerships. PM Modi also took part in the customary BRICS family photograph with all member country leaders, symbolizing the strength and unity of the bloc.

Following the summit, PM Modi arrived in Brasilia, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The discussions are expected to focus on deepening the India-Brazil strategic partnership in various sectors, including trade, defence, energy, agriculture, and space technology.

This visit is a part of PM Modi’s broader five-nation diplomatic tour which began in Ghana and included stops in Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and now Brazil. He is scheduled to visit Namibia next, where he will address the country’s Parliament and engage with leadership on strengthening bilateral ties.

The BRICS Summit comes at a time when global geopolitics is undergoing rapid transformation. India’s proactive engagement on platforms like BRICS signals its intent to play a major role in shaping the global narrative, while promoting sustainability, equity, and innovation.

With the conclusion of the Rio Summit, all eyes are now on India’s forthcoming role in steering the BRICS agenda forward.
