Minerva Academy FC Makes History With Norway Cup Win
Minerva Academy FC has made Indian football history by winning the U-14 Norway Cup, the world’s largest youth football tournament. The Indian side defeated Norway’s SIF 14-1 in the final, delivering a commanding performance that captured global attention.
Minerva’s young squad was dominant throughout the tournament, scoring 130 goals across 8 matches—averaging 16.5 goals per game. In earlier stages, they registered massive wins like 25-0, 15-0, and 22-0. Their path to the final included wins over Roglands BK (11-0), Amdal-Tokke FK (17-0), FK Fyllingsdalen (18-1), and a semi-final victory against Palestine’s Ramathel Charif Club (8-2).
Key players like Danamoni, Raj, Reeson, and Tony delivered standout performances, with multiple hat-tricks across matches. The win has brought pride and recognition to Indian grassroots football, highlighting Minerva’s commitment to youth development.
Despite some debate about the level of competition, Minerva’s participation and win in a prestigious international event marks a milestone for Indian football. They’ve now been invited to participate in the MIC Cup, another globally recognized youth tournament.
Football fans and experts are urging the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to consider including Minerva’s U-14 squad in the national development program, especially for the U-17 circuit.
