World’s Tallest 221-Ft Ravana Effigy Unveiled in Kota

Kota is all set to script history this Dussehra with the unveiling of the world’s tallest Ravana effigy at its 132nd National Dussehra Fair 2025. Standing at a towering height of 221 feet, the effigy has officially been recognised for entry into both the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records, making it a global attraction.

The gigantic structure, which cost around ₹44 lakh, was built over four months by a dedicated team of artisans led by craftsman Tejendra Chauhan. On 29th September, the massive figure was successfully erected with the help of two hydraulic cranes—one 220-ton and another 100-ton. Weighing nearly 13,000 kg, the effigy is supported entirely by an iron framework to ensure strength and safety.

Foundation and Safety

Given its massive size, the burning site was shifted from Vijayashree Rangmanch to the eastern side of the fairground. A 26×24 feet RCC foundation was laid, secured with steel jack rods, iron ropes, and reinforced joints, ensuring complete stability during the burning.

Ravana’s Majestic Look

This year’s Ravana appears taller and slimmer, with a 25-foot fibreglass face, a 60-foot LED-lit crown, and a fierce moustache symbolising power. His attire features vibrant shades of red, green, and blue, while accessories include a 50-foot sword and 40-foot shoes. Staying true to mythology, the effigy boasts all ten heads of Dashanan.

Eco-Friendly Fireworks

The burning ceremony will feature 15,000 green crackers controlled through 25 remote systems, creating a synchronised fireworks display. Alongside Ravana, 60-foot effigies of Meghnath and Kumbhakaran, each carrying 4,000 crackers, will also be set ablaze with eco-friendly measures in place.

Record-Breaking Feat

Previously, Delhi held the record with a 210-foot Ravana, while Chandigarh’s 221-foot attempt in 2019 was unsuccessful. Kota’s successful creation now proudly claims the record. Teams from Delhi have already measured and confirmed the structure’s official height.

Public Excitement and Security

The fairground has already turned into a buzzing attraction, with thousands of visitors flocking to take pictures and witness the historic effigy before Dussehra. Strict security measures have been implemented, with a 150-foot safety radius around the structure to manage the crowd.

As Kota prepares to set Ravana aflame with eco-friendly fireworks, this celebration will not only mark a record-breaking achievement but also showcase a perfect blend of tradition, grandeur, and sustainability.
