Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome in Rome from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as the two leaders met for dinner and diplomatic discussions near the iconic Colosseum. Their interaction quickly gained online attention, reviving the popular “Melodi” trend that symbolizes their growing friendship.

Sharing a picture with PM Modi on the social media platform X, Giorgia Meloni wrote, “Welcome to Rome, my friend!” along with Indian and Italian flag emojis. The photo featured the illuminated Colosseum in the background, creating a striking visual that went viral across social media. The post received over a million views and thousands of likes from users praising the diplomatic bond between India and Italy.

Prime Minister Modi also shared pictures from the evening, mentioning that after arriving in Rome, he had dinner with Meloni, followed by a visit to the Colosseum. He noted that the two leaders exchanged perspectives on various global and bilateral issues and expressed his anticipation for formal talks aimed at strengthening India-Italy cooperation and friendship.

This visit to Rome marks the final leg of PM Modi’s five-nation international tour. Prior to Italy, he visited Norway, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and Sweden as part of his diplomatic engagements.

During his stay in Italy, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Several strategic and diplomatic issues are expected to be on the agenda for these meetings.
