CBSE Date Sheet 2025 Released: Class 10 & 12 Board Exams to Begin from February 15
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the Class 10 and 12 board exam date sheet for 2025 on its website. The much-anticipated theory exams are set to commence on February 15, 2025, while practical examinations will begin from January 1, 2025, for most schools. For schools in winter-affected areas, practicals commenced earlier, on November 5, 2024, and will continue until December 5, 2024.
Key Guidelines and Updates
CBSE has issued detailed subject-specific guidelines to ensure smooth administration of the examinations. These guidelines include:
- Subject Codes and Class Details: Specific codes for identification.
- Weightage Breakdown: Clear division of marks for theory, practicals, internal assessments, and projects.
- Answer Booklet Formats: Standardized formats for answer scripts.
Schools have been instructed to adhere strictly to these guidelines to maintain uniformity and efficiency during the exam period.
Competency-Based Learning in Focus
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the 2025 board exams will place a greater emphasis on competency-based learning. The weightage of competency-based questions has increased from 40% to 50% for both Class 10 and Class 12 exams. These questions will be presented in various formats, including:
- Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Case Studies
- Source-Based Scenarios
This shift aims to prioritize the practical application of knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills over rote learning. As a result, the weightage of traditional short and long-answer questions has been reduced, while the total marks for each subject will remain 100.
Preparation Resources
To help students familiarize themselves with the updated patterns, CBSE has made sample question papers available on its official academic portal, cbseacademic.nic.in. These papers outline the revised formats, marking schemes, and question styles, enabling students to prepare effectively for the exams.
