SGT University Summer Camp Sparks Healthcare Tech Innovation Through Robotics
GURUGRAM — Design Thinking and Innovation with Robotics came to life at SGT University as students participated in an engaging five-day summer camp organized by the Medical Cobotics Centre (MCC) in collaboration with STEAM Varsity. The camp took place from June 1 to June 5, 2026, and brought together students from various academic backgrounds, all united by a common goal: to learn how innovative ideas can be transformed into practical solutions.
Instead of attending traditional lectures, participants were encouraged to think critically, experiment, build, and create. The camp focused on helping students identify real healthcare challenges and develop solutions using modern technologies. Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, participants learned the principles of design thinking, a process that promotes empathy, creativity, and problem-solving.
One of the most exciting aspects of the program was the opportunity to explore emerging technologies. Students experienced Virtual Reality (VR), created 3D models using Tinkercad, experimented with 3D printing, developed basic mobile applications, and worked on Arduino-based prototypes. They also learned about Lego Robotics and advanced programming techniques, enabling them to see how technology can be applied to solve real-world problems.
The sessions were guided by Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Kapoor and Dr. Renuka Sharma, with Mr. Dharam Raj Panwar from STEAM Varsity serving as a resource expert. Their mentorship helped students move beyond ideas and understand the process of turning concepts into functional prototypes.
Throughout the five days, the atmosphere was filled with curiosity, teamwork, and innovation. Students collaborated in groups, shared ideas, and gained confidence in using technology to address challenges in healthcare and beyond.
The camp exemplified SGT University’s commitment to providing opportunities that extend beyond traditional classroom learning. By offering hands-on experiences and fostering innovation, the university continues to nurture future-ready thinkers and problem-solvers.
As the camp concluded, students departed not only with new technical skills but also with a deeper understanding of how innovation begins when ideas meet action. The experience reminded everyone that the innovators of tomorrow are already taking their first steps today.
