TV Actor Shefali Jariwala of ‘Kaanta Laga’ Fame Passes Away at 42

Mumbai, June 29, 2025: Television actor and model Shefali Jariwala, famously known as the “Kaanta Laga girl,” passed away on Friday night at the age of 42, a hospital source confirmed. Jariwala, a familiar face in the Indian entertainment industry, was declared dead on arrival at Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital, Mumbai.

Her sudden death has shocked the film and television fraternity. While early media reports suggest a heart attack as the cause of death, no official confirmation has been made by her family or representatives. The Mumbai Police have sent her body for postmortem at Cooper Hospital and stated that the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.

According to police, her body was found at her residence in Andheri, and they received the information around 1 a.m. on Saturday. A forensic team and police officials reached her home in the Golden Rays-Y building for investigation.

Hospital authorities revealed that Shefali was brought in by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, around 11:15 p.m., but she had already passed by then.

Shefali Jariwala rose to national fame in 2002 with the massive hit remix video “Kaanta Laga”, which became a cultural phenomenon. She later participated in several reality shows, including “Nach Baliye” with her husband and “Bigg Boss 13”, hosted by Salman Khan, where she remained a notable contestant.

Condolences poured in from across the entertainment world.
Singer Mika Singh wrote:

“I’m deeply shocked, saddened, and feeling a heavy heart… Our beloved star and my dearest friend @shefalijariwala has left us. Still can’t believe it. You will always be remembered for your grace, smile, and spirit. Om Shanti.”

Actor Kamya Punjabi tweeted,

“I can’t get over this news…my heart is sinking. Shefali.”

Actor Aly Goni shared a short tribute, “RIP Shefali.”

Shefali Jariwala’s passing is a significant loss to the entertainment industry. Her charm, talent, and enduring fan base made her a beloved public figure for over two decades.

The industry and her fans now await the postmortem report and an official statement from the family.
